I do not handle the Digital check-ins.. I am sure that Dave Fanelli, the Net Manager, will post them to this thread…
My call sign, KF5ZHW, was confirmed as a digital check in near end of meeting, but not listed on digital check in list sent out.

I also cc myself so I know mine went through ok.
I sent one Winlink RF check in to TXARES-HF yesterday before the net started. I was not able to attend the net itself. Does the Winlink RF check in have to be on HF or can it be through a VHF gateway?

It seems that the screen shot that was sent out shortly after the net last Monday caused a lot of confusion since it didn’t include the digital check-ins. I was among the confused! It wasn’t clear from the message that contained the screenshot that a more detailed report would be forthcoming. So, I think folks reacted thinking that there digital check-in didn’t get counted. I know I did!
I’d like to suggest that in the future we forgo the screenshot and just let the Net Control Station send out the official net report.
There you have my two cents on the subject.

I have stated numerous times that the Digital Report is handled by another station, the Net Manager, and that the report would be forthcoming.
I spend 2 hours per week running NetLogger as a courtesy to the members of ARES, and the Net Control station. I send the screenshot immediately following the net, so that early-bird viewers can see who checked in by district, before the ‘official’ spreadsheet can get filled out, formatted, and uploaded, which can sometimes take a couple of days to accomplish if the person who does it is short on free time.
If the membership feels that this additional piece of information is detrimental and causes confusion, I am more than happy to stop doing it. There are plenty of other things I could be doing with my time every Monday night.
I serve at the pleasure of the Net Manager and the SEC.
Lee, my suggestion for solving this issue is to figure out how I can put the digital checkins directly into NetLogger so that they do show up in the screenshot.

Is the log really all that time sensitive?
My suggestion would be for Lee to stop sending the screen shots that only has part of the data and gain some of his week back. Then when David has time to send the official log out then everyone can receive it. This will also lessen the amount of emails going around. Don’t mean to hurt anyone’s feelings but let’s get real.

OK, so, apparently, ONCE AGAIN, I have opened up a big 'ol can-o-worms with my comment.
Let me make something clear.
I am NOT, nor WAS I, complaining about taking on the responsibility of logging the net, or being a Net Control, or doing any of the other things that I choose to do for Ham Radio, ARES, CERT, etc.
What I do is by CHOICE, with no expectation of praise or recompense of any sort.
However - What I DO take issue with… What irks me to the core - Is the fact that no matter WHAT net I participate in, there are ALWAYS some people that have a tendency to criticize how the net is run, without ever being willing to step up and actually help out and BE an NCS or a LOGGER. Or an EC, DEC, AEC, DRO, etc…
It is very disheartening to hear criticism when you give of yourself selflessly to help out fellow volunteers. I am from NY and have a thick skin. I take no issue with constructive criticism; in fact I welcome it, as I am never too old or skilled to learn something new. But I have been a wrangler of Volunteers for many many years, long before I moved to Texas, and the one constant I have experienced is that any group that constantly expresses negativity towards new things, i.e. ‘changing the status quo’ - OR, to put it in HAM terms: ‘We have always done it this way, we don’t need any of this new fangled stuff’’ will most certainly reach a point at which they will not have ANY new people to take up the mantle once the ‘Veterans’ are gone.
It is bad enough that ARES, as a whole, is rapidly becoming insignificant to served Agencies because of their stubbornness and hesitation to embrace new training and technology, to better meet a changing world. Not to mention all the Ego’s and politics that come along with a volunteer group.
Do I NEED to requisition a Mobile Command Post and 30 P25 TxWARN radios from Harris County EOC to do the Buffalo Bayou Regatta? Heck no.
Do I NEED to spend 2 months coordinating and developing pre-plans and ICS forms for the MS150, along with many live ZOOM training sessions? Heck no.
Do I NEED to train people how to use new tech such as VARAC, WinLink, M17, FLDIGI, and WebEOC? Heck no.
Do I NEED to take IS300, IS400, AUXC, IS 100, 200, 700, 800, IS141, IS449, COML, COMT, TTT (train the trainer) for free to be able to teach these skills to Hams? Heck no.
But I, for one, wish to help my peers in Ham Radio remain relevant as a resource in the future, and not become an anachronism that no Served Agency is EVER gonna call on for help. Maybe I am paddling upstream. Maybe not. But I am not going to stop trying.
SOOOOO… With that in mind - We need net controllers for the Monday Night 3.873 ARES HF Net. Let’s see just how many people respond and offer to jump in, grab a weapon, and fight the good fight. I suspect NO ONE will volunteer. Yet, the criticism will keep on comin’.
Bottom line: IF YOU ARE WILLING TO DO THE JOB, I WELCOME you to the effort. I embrace you. I will stand behind you and support you. As will Jeff Walter, Stuart Wolfe, Dave Fanelli and the rest of the leaders of our group. If you feel you are getting too many emails from this group, or any group on groups.io, just switch to a daily digest rather than individual messages, you will get 1 email every 24 hours, and any SPECIAL notices sent to the group, which I will not send unless important.
And that is ME. Getting REAL.
