But Groups.io is WAY more than a simple email forum/reflector…
Besides simply using emails it has #hashtags which make it easier to find and track a message thread…
An example would be #SET2019 All the emails for the 2019 SET would be in one place if everybody got on board…
A second feature would be Subgroups… Let’s say a few of the DECs and/or ECs want to plan a multi-district/multi-county SET They could create a subgroup say, D7&8
OR if folks want to discuss GO-KITS, WinLink, Packet, DMR, D-Star, Fusion, IRLP, Wires, LMNOP, whatever… They simply create the subgroup and have folks join… This keeps from bombarding the main group with stuff not everybody wants to know about…
Speaking of bombarding the main group… At the bottom of each email is a Mute this Topic link… Click on it and you don’t get any more messages until somebody changes the subject line… Email with Squelch…
OR we could create a subgroup for each of the 100 Counties and 14 Districts… Members could join the ones they want and all messages, files, folders, etc would be one place…
Just think how easy it would be to recruit and train members if we all shared the same email reflector across the entire ARRL Section?
We could share a common calendar so folks would know when/where all the ARES Nets and Meetings are…

Whatever you do, don’t fall victim to “paralysis by
analysis.” Go ahead and buy/build one and start
tinkering with it. This is a learn by doing hobby.
No politician or scholar assured your freedoms.
A Soldier, Sailor, Marine, or Airman did!
There is plenty of free software for forums, much better than a simple
email reflector, that keeps discussions in a thread, and allows better
user settings.
Put on our own server and not shared with the unknown world…
