An update on HUR Ida Response with a TX perspective. Information only, please take direction from your leadership.
· Brief: Anyone affected by HUR Ida that needs a safe place to stay should call 211, visit redcross.org, call 1-800-RED-CROSS (800-733-2767) or download the free Red Cross Emergency app for shelter locations. You can also text LASHELTER to 898-211 or NOLAREADY to 77295.
Hurricane response is larger than any single participant. It takes Business, Government, and Non-Profit partners working together to fulfill needs. I am giving a Red Cross perspective.
As an example we could not deliver on our feeding mission if it were not for partners like Baptist Disaster Relief who are running some amazing volume kitchens. Those meals are then loaded onto dozens of Red Cross emergency response vehicles and delivered to people in the hardest hit areas struggling to recover.
Closer to home our good partners in Food Banks are providing support for feeding folks in shelters.
Tuesday night, more than 2,100 people sought refuge across 35 Red Cross and community shelters located in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Texas. Some 580 trained Red Cross workers are on the ground now, and hundreds more volunteers are on the way to support relief efforts. With the help of partners, the Red Cross has already provided more than 17,000 meals & snacks and distributed 770 relief items.

Anyone impacted by Hurricane Ida who needs a place to stay should call Louisiana 211, or call 1-800-755-5175.
Louisiana residents looking for shelter are encouraged to call 2-1-1, text ‘LAShelter’ to 898-211 or NOLAREADY to 77295.
