How to Join ARES in the STX section

    1. Log in to www.arrlstx.org
  2. Hover over the STX ARES tab on the main page
  3. Click on STX Info Depot
  4. Click on Register New Member
  5. Fill out all of the information
  6. Click on Register at the bottom

A message will be sent to your county emergency coordinator.

Once the coordinator approves your membership you will receive a reply.

After receiving that reply:

  1. Log back in to www.arrlstx.org
  2. Hover over the STX ARES tab on the main page
  3. Click on STX Info Depot
  4. Click on Login
  5. Click on courses and training

Lots of members skip this step 11. Most, because that don’t know that it exists.

At a minimum you should be able to fill out the first 2 items in the task book.

Date: that you joined the ARES group.

Date: that you obtained your amateur radio license

  1. Click on Update

Once you complete that, you are eligible for a hard plastic ARES badge.

I joined an ARES group in January 2018 after obtaining my Tech license in December 2017.
When I just logged in it told me to verify my profile as the last update was from 10/2018.
All the items that I had filled out as proficient since 10/2018 are yet to be verified. Only communication received is from this ARES mailing list. Meanwhile also joined RACES and it seems they communicate a whole lot more to get new members up to their expectations.

One of the items for intermediate is to obtain a taskbook, but I sure don’t know where to even get one

So I did complete step 11 and 12 but never ever had some communication or verification.

The taskbook is free from the ARRL website under the training tab.

I would recommend contact with your local EC to let them know you are ready to have your info verified.
