Can someone please explain what’s going on with the administration of the subject net? There were two posts yesterday reminding folks of the net last night posted by Dave Fanelli. I thought he resigned as the net manager. The posts were conflicted in terms of of who would be running the net. One said John Hults and the other said Dave Fanelli.
I am fine with Dave returning to his previous position as net manager if that is what he wants to do. The main point of this post is to try and figure out who is in charge and to try to point out that the messaging about net reminders needs to be consistent and clear.
As an aside, for what it is worth I would like to say that at least at my station in District 6 K2WJ is consistently stronger and more readable than the JSC club station. Many times the JSC station is barely readable here. Don’t know who is stronger in other parts of the state. This remark is intended to be nothing more than a signal report.
Hello all,
Ultimately, the STX SEC is responsible for the net.
Dave Fanelli has the responsibility of net management.
We are in a transition period to where all STX Districts and WTX and NTX take turns being net control.
There is a schedule available for all SECs, DEC’s and EC’s to view and make entries regarding their 3 weeks per year responsibility.
During this period, there may be some indecisiveness but the changes will be made. Otherwise we are back to square 1 with 3 folks doing all of the work for 1,780 members.
Regarding yesterdays net, D1 was responsible for the net control station. That makes the DEC 1 responsible for figuring out who will take the net with their jurisdiction. If they have no one, which is possible, then they ask the SEC or a neighboring district for help in the form of mutual aid. Adding to the confusion, the DEC 1 is on vacation and not available at a moments notice.
John Hults agreed, in side conversation with me, to be the net control last week while waiting to hear from the DEC. The DEC decision was not received by either of us until after the first notice was published. After receiving the notice from the DEC that Dave Fanelli would take the net, I changed the post to read Dave Fanelli. Dave is not a part of District 1, he is District 14. So I guess that Dave was asked as mutual aid to take the net and he agreed.
Once the net began, John Hults ran the net with Dave as a relay station and WinLink message target.
The SEC will combine and post the results later today.
Mr. Kleeberg, when it is District 6’s turn, your DEC will announce who the net control will be. He already has made that announcement.
District 2 is up next.
