I could barely hear net control intermittently, but I did hear my call sign relayed when the group including District 12 was called.
Is it possible to occasionally start at the top and work down (15 – 1) so us higher District have a chance before the band totally deteriorates?

I also had a difficult time making any sense or order out of the net due to high noise and lack of ability to hear net control. The relays did an excellent job in almost impossible conditions. I have a local 2 meter net to attend at 8 pm also on Mondays so if I can I need to get checked in on the ARES net before I check in to the local net. I think I may have barged in before my district was called and if so please accept my apology. In conditions like we were facing, the best a person can do is be present for the entire net and wait until conditions clear or a relay can be heard. If neither of those happen then the ARES operator can rest assured he/she has done all they can reasonably be expected to do because even in actual emergency conditions, there are no guarantees a connection can be made. I made the decision to try getting in to the net on the fact I could hear a relay and the net was about to close, I thought, since it was minutes til 8 pm. Fortunately I was heard and I heard my call relayed in. It is important for those trying to check in to include their district number in the case of the South Texas ARES portion of the net which covers the whole state of Texas. Once again, the relays are essential to a successfull net and are deserving of all our gratitude at it’s best. If possible it would be good for us all to know how to relay in an orderly fashion and step up if conditions warrant. That is all. 73 to all.

Couldn’t relay stations record the district/unit and wait for the announced district/unit called by NC
to report?
That might cause a pile up for some relay stations but they should be able to sort it out and it’s
good practice.
