A followup message,
I would believe that they (NWS) have done away with trying to keep a current database of spotters and “ID’s”,
because of typical government (non) funding.
as any government agency these days, they don’t have the extra man power for some one to keep up with what we are asking,
how well i know as working for one and having to justify budgets just to keep the doors open some times.
They trust us as ham operators to self-manage our group, either STX-ARES or just hams or such.
They will take our word when we call in and tell them we are a ham operator by call sign and say we are a “Ham Skywarn spotter”, that we actually have been through their training enough to give them the storm info that they want and need without any extra info.
Because at the time we are calling in what we are seeing, they are up to their ears trying to process all the weather info to get it out to the tv stations and alerts to the public.
