New ARRL STX ASEC Operations

Hello EC’s, DEC’s, ASEC’s and other interested parties,

Mr. Steve Z Leibovitz, KF5OYI, has accepted the position of Assistant Section Emergency Coordinator (ASEC) Operations for the South Texas Section.

Having a deep interest in radio growing up, Steve obtained his amateur license in March of 2012 and now holds an Extra Class license. Steve is also a Volunteer Examiner.

Steve joined the local club and “met some of the nicest folks.” Soon after joining, he became the club president and was also appointed to EC for Guadalupe County, holding that position from May of 2015 until October of 2019.

Steve is the trustee for the WA5GC 146.760 repeater in Seguin.

Steve enjoys public service and volunteers for many events throughout the year including several that use packet radio to transmit .csv data files to net control.

In his shack, the main radio is a Kenwood TS2000 that is used for phone and morse code, along with a Yaesu FT-891 that is used for digital comms.

Steve is married to Linda and together they have two sons and eight grandchildren.

They enjoy camping with their two Shi-Tzu’s, Scooter & Einstein

Steve lives in Seguin.

This appointment is effective February 3, 2026.
