Sometime ago I opened my Win 10 shack laptop only to see that Microsoft was upgrading it to Win 11 and 45% finished!! I quickly found a solution viaSteve Gibson’s INCONTROL software. No updates or upgrades from MS except the usual security monthly updates. Here’s link:

Microsoft tends to break things with new operating systems. I bought a Windows 11 laptop for use with my Winlink gateways, and it kept dropping the S/N ratio on the input side when using a Signalink USB. I could not find anywhere to stop this from happening, so I had to resort to purchasing a couple of Digirigs. Those work fine, but I had better control by using the Signalink USBs. I’m afraid if I update my go kit laptop to Windows 11 I’ll end up having to do the same thing.

which leaves me with three equally bad options...buy a new box, switch to
Linux or run Win10 without service (security) support.*

I’m in the same boat. My laptop will not run Windows 11 so I guess I’ll continue with 10 since I don’t know anything about Linux.

Linux support for radio stuff is getting better but there is a lot missing still. Honestly the SDR realm is impressing me more and more. I’m about to start experimenting with more emulation, since most things use older sdk’s that could support wine or vm’s.
If only there was something as good as GRL3 for weather though. That’s the weakest link for me, and the only reason I ever boot Windows anymore.
