Do you have any OLD email groups on Groups.io collecting dust?

STXARES, ARRLSTX, and AustinHams members,

I need your help… I am using my knowledge of Subgroups to help create an email group for each of the 15 ARRL Division Directors, each Section Manager in their Division, and any Leadership teams they ask for…

This is just like the STXARES and AustinHams groups that have been doing this for years with subgroups for the 14 ARES Districts, various ARES groups, and Special Interest Groups…

Now it is time to turn the Volume up to 11…

What we need are OLD groups that were created in 2019 or before because they allow Subgroups…

Before you suggest, Why not create a new group, they are FREE… You will need to get out your credit card…
(Joking of course, but let’s look at the math)…

New Groups or ones created after 2021 are limited to 100 members…

They do not come with; Files, Folders, or Calendars…

To bump them up to 500 members costs $220 annually…

Each member after that cost 44 cents annually…

Yesterday’s count there are 53,421 Hams in TX… If only 10% join that’s 5,341…
After the first 500 at $200 that leaves 4,841 at 44 cents each…

That comes to $2,130 OMG Dollars annually plus the $220 annual fee…

Now that we are on the same page that OLD FREE groups are the way to go, let’s focus on finding a few…

Look around/ask around, maybe you or one of your club members created a group and it is collecting dust…

Try this yourself and ask them to go to https://groups.io/ and Login… You/They don’t have to remember User Names or Passwords… Just follow the link to Groups.io and enter your email address, then open the email Groups sends you and follow the link… Try all of your email addresses… The link will open a list of the groups that you Own or are a Member of… If you/they are the Owner of a group that can be donated let me know the details… I can talk you/them through the steps in a few minutes… If you see any old groups that you are a member of that have been dormant for years ask the owner if they would be willing to donate it to the cause…

Please reply to dallas.n4ddm@gmail.com as there is no need to hash this out on the email groups…

Thanks for your time and consideration.

FYI, here is a cool link to see the FCC Counts per License Class and each State; https://www.arrl.org/fcc-license-counts

Feel free to do the math if 10% of the US Hams join the Division groups…
