Greetings.
This year’s Texas MS 150 will be held on April 29th and 30th, with proceeds going to the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society for research and outreach.
Travis County ARES has been asked to coordinate operators on the routes from Austin to LaGrange on Saturday, April 29th. Houston area hams will cover the Houston → LaGrange route and the LaGrange → College Station finish.
There are already over 500 riders signed up for the Austin → LaGrange routes. Yes, routes plural. This year there will be two (2) starts from Austin:
- Capitol (75 miles)
- Webberville (55 miles)
We’re looking for ~14 operators to cover the two (2) starts and five (5) stops.
Skills needed:
- Technician License
- 2m/70cm Mobile radio *
- Gain antenna (> ¼ wave) *
- Ability to operate for a few hours
- If you don’t have the appropriate mobile gear, don’t be glum. We will match you with someone that does.
It’s a fun event. It’s a great way to meet other operators across Central TX and Houston. And, as someone who has friends with MS, it’s a fantastic cause to support.
